WHAT IS THE CENTRE?

The Centre for the Advancement of SMEs in the East of Scotland Concrete Construction Industry contributes to the provision of a comprehensive advice and support service for local small and medium sized enterprises. The Centre seeks to assist in the development of SME entrepreneurial spirit and confidence through provision of knowledge required to modernise practices, improve efficiency, product quality and sustainability and, in so doing, enable firms to become more competitive, environmentally friendly and contribute towards growth in the construction industry.
The Centre employs specialist advisors and an expert Advisory Steering Group to guide procedure, facilitate dissemination of technical advances, monitor progress and ensure success.

CENTRE MISSION STATEMENT
To encourage SME development through knowledge provision and technology transfer and assist in the advancement in levels of efficiency, product quality, sustainability and competitiveness, and ultimately contribute towards growth in the Regional and National concrete construction industry.
CENTRE AIMS
  1. Identify the best ways to assist SMEs to take advantage of development opportunities, improve efficiency and quality and embrace sustainability.
  2. Repackage and disseminate existing knowledge to SMEs.
  3. Undertake intensive information sessions to refresh, enhance and develop new knowledge for SMEs.
  4. Undertake knowledge exchange forums to encourage healthy information exchange between SMEs and experts and key strategists in concrete construction.
  5. Enhance the work practices of SMEs.
  6. Enhance the potential for employment, business growth and economic development of the Region.
  7. Develop a working model for the advancement of SMEs for use elsewhere in the UK.
